Overview
We are a competitive, 2A marching band program seeking a percussion instructor for the 2026 marching season. As a staff member, we seek to promote a collaborative environment to help our students succeed through excellence in performance.
Job Goal
To instruct band members in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and overall marching band success.
To instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, confidence and pride of accomplishment.
To upgrade knowledge and skills through band clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
Responsibilities
Attend rehearsals, band camp and meet attendance requirements. Band Camp is July 27–31 and Aug 3–7, 9 AM–4 PM; rehearsals Monday–Wednesday during the fall semester, 3:45 PM–6:15 PM.
Assist in program oversight with the Marching Band Director and Activities Director, ensuring implementation of policies and procedures.
Develop and deliver instruction, practice plans and demonstrations for marching percussion students.
Serve as mentor, promoting character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
Maintain discipline, address grievances, and promote morale and cooperation among staff and students.
Oversee student managers, assistants and drum majors, providing guidance and support during practices and games.
Initiate and implement policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies, completing required paperwork within 24 hours.
Provide training rules and regulations of the marching band to students who are considered participants.
Perform such other duties assigned by the Marching Band Director, Activities Director or Principal.
Qualifications
Music education, DCI or marching band experience preferred.
Marching band percussion experience preferred.
Attendance at rehearsals and band camp required, with schedule accommodation possible.
Salary
Stipend Position; amount dependent on experience.
Reports To
The Marching Band Director, Activities Director and/or HS Principal.
