Job Description Summary
Responsible to prepare and deliver Motion Graphics and Visual Effects coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to student success, culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Meets professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare and teach courses in Motion Graphics and Visual Effects to a multicultural student population based on the department's approved course learning outcomes, utilizing varied instructional strategies appropriate to community college students and the standards of the discipline.
Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback reflecting program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner that does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, or other protected categories.
Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or executive leadership.
Additional Duties
Prepare and deliver Motion Graphics and Visual Effects coursework with a commitment to student success and belonging; meet professional standards per college policies and procedures.
Teach introductory and advanced Motion Graphics and Visual Effects classes to workforce and transfer students.
Technology
Demonstrated proficiency using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Maxon Cinema 4D, online resources, and other classroom technologies; proficient with a learning management system (e.g., Blackboard) to develop course content and perform administrative duties.
Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications and online resources in the classroom.
Principal Professional Standards
Appropriate use of the college's learning management system; meet deadlines for attendance certification and final grades.
Participate in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions; maintain regular office hours to assist students.
Attend and participate in college-wide, campus, department, or other activities; uphold civility and collegiality in all interactions.
Comply with college policies and professional standards for teaching in a community college.
Education and Experience
Required Education:
Educational requirements in accordance with SACSCOC accreditation standards. No substitution for educational requirements. Associate degree in Motion Graphics and Visual Effects or a related discipline (Graphic Design; Creative Writing; Film Production; Programming; Studio Art; Animation).
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree in Motion Graphics, Visual Effects, Graphic Design, or Concept Design with strong emphasis in Motion Graphics and Visual Effects or Fine Art/Studio Art.
Required Work Experience:
Three years of non-teaching, industry-related work experience within the Motion Graphics and Visual Effects industry.
Qualities of a Successful Candidate
Ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment; ability to work with diverse student populations.
Experience with active and applied teaching methodologies; strong communication and organizational skills.
Commitment to teaching in a community college setting, cultural awareness, and confidentiality of student information.
Ability to teach in person and potentially at multiple campus locations, including evenings and weekends.
