PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Choir Director shall direct the instructional program for all choir students and coordinate campus choir activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certification Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements - All Level or Secondary Music Education
Valid Texas Driver's License
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Special Knowledge and Skills
Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of public-school music teaching experience, preferred
Vocal music pedagogy experience, preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Provide instruction in the choir program
Coordinate the instructional process for choir students in concerts, choir, and music appreciation classes
Maintain accurate choir inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operation of all activities
Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students
Actively coordinate campus choir activities with campus programs, staff, and community
Actively prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events
Actively participate in the professional development of personal teaching competencies
Actively participate in professional organizations which foster and support music education
Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of personnel rules, regulations, and practices.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator's Code of Ethics
Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of this position; however, the supervision of students is required. Direct the work of instructional aide(s).
EQUIPMENT USED:
Office equipment - persona computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
Communication equipment - radio communication equipment, cellular telephone
