Primary Purpose:

The Choir Director shall direct the instructional program for all choir students and coordinate campus choir activities.

Qualifications
Education and Certification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements – All Level or Secondary Music Education

Valid Texas Driver’s License

Successful fingerprinting background check; employee pays non‑refundable fee (~$50)

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of public‑school music teaching experience, preferred

Vocal music pedagogy experience, preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Provide instruction in the choir program

Coordinate the instructional process for choir students in concerts, choir, and music appreciation classes

Maintain accurate choir inventory, budget, and general operation of all activities

Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students

Coordinate campus choir activities with campus programs, staff, and community

Prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events

Participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge of personnel rules, regulations, and practices

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

Maintain consistent professional demeanor and appearance

Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics

Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervision and evaluation of district personnel is not a requirement; however, supervision of students is required. Direct the work of instructional aide(s).

Office equipment – personal computer, printer, calculator, multi‑line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other applicable equipment

Communication equipment – radio communication equipment, cellular telephone

Video monitoring equipment

Occasional: lifting 15–44 pounds; carrying 15–44 pounds.

Environmental Factors:

Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration

Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces, work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours.
