Field Service Technician – Peoria, IL
The Field Service Technician will perform both in-shop and field service work. Responsibilities include installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems, performing preventative maintenance, training staff and customers, maintaining service records, and providing on-site technical assistance.
Job Purpose
To support regional operations by delivering high‑quality field service and technical support for battery, charger, and DC power distribution equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Travel to customer sites to install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on flooded and sealed batteries, chargers, and DC power distribution equipment.
Interact with all levels of personnel, both inside and outside the company.
Develop and conduct training on safe equipment operation and demonstrate skills to trainees, team members, and customers.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections of batteries, chargers, battery handling equipment, and battery changing/charging areas and record data.
Replace defective parts, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts with a gas torch.
Determine specific gravity of battery solution.
Water, wash, clean, and neutralize customers’ batteries at their location.
Install equipment at customer facilities to ensure full functionality according to specifications.
Provide on‑site technical assistance to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Maintain records of performance reports.
Serve as a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service.
Occasionally download battery and charger data via a monitoring device and use the information to repair or correct problems.
Occasionally report to the local EnerSys Service Center for mandatory training, inventory, parts pick up/drop off, etc.
Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, or industry‑related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet.
Basic mechanical aptitude.
Previous customer service experience in‑field support.
Ability to read, comprehend, and write documents in English.
Ability to perform basic math and solve simple equations.
Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after‑hour service calls when required.
Preferred Qualifications
Certificate or diploma in Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, or related field.
Basic electrical understanding.
Experience using test equipment and reading schematics.
Hands‑on job experience.
Experience substantiatively in the electrical related field where applicable.
Driving Requirements
Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record with minimal traffic violations.
Able and willing to travel to customer sites.
Able and willing to do overnight travel (maximum of 5 days per month; frequent travel during the 6‑8 week training period).
Must be at least 18 years of age to drive a company vehicle; a nonregulated/CDL 21 years of age applicable as required.
Able and willing to operate a forklift.

Must be willing and able to be on‑call.
Must be willing and able to wear a respirator.
Must be willing and able to work overtime.
Must be willing and able to work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Risk of electrical shock.
Position is exposed to harmful materials such as lead/fiberglass; periodic blood tests will be required to measure lead levels.
Position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment; varying working conditions expected.

Compensation Range
$53,100.00 – $66,600.00 (may vary based on work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location)
