Student Communications Assistant / Summer Photographer / Partial Designer
Overview: The student communications assistant/summer semester photography student position at the Voinovich School of Leadership & Public Service (GVS) provides a photography student an opportunity to document events and ongoing project work of faculty and staff. The student will work with the Voinovich School’s Graphic Designer and External Communications and Events team, photographing events both on Ohio University’s campus and off campus throughout the Appalachian Ohio region (mileage covered).

Responsibilities

Photograph multiple events per week, including portraits, headshots, and general event coverage; develop a back catalog of b‑roll imagery for the school.

Collaborate with the Graphic Designer and External Communications and Events team to create visual content for campus and regional events.

Assist with writing and editing communications, managing social media content, updating websites and multimedia content.

Help design promotional materials, support marketing campaigns, and assist with event communications.

When event coverage is limited, support office tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Enrolled at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post‑secondary institution, or a secondary school during the current, immediate previous, or upcoming semester.

Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines.

Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools.

Preferred: Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere.

Working Conditions

Primarily desk‑based with extensive use of desktop computers.

Occasional travel required to attend meetings and programs.

Schedule & Pay
Part‑time; variable up to 32 hours per week if needed. Pay rate $15.00 per hour.
