Position Summary
The Logos Student Newspaper Assistant Editor is the secondary person in charge of writing, editing, designing The Logos, a student‑run newspaper. The Assistant Editor reports to the Faculty Advisor and may be a work‑study or student employment position.

Essential Functions

Cover campus assignments.

Write stories.

Take photographs.

Lay out pages.

Monitor telephone (answer, take messages, etc.).

Perform general clerical duties.

Distribute newspapers.

Promote the newspaper.

Update the interactive website.

Other duties as assigned by the student editors and/or adviser.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge and/or skill in writing, editing, design, and photography.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education

Be a full‑time UIW student during the regular academic year.

Have a minimum GPA of 2.5, with a 3.0 in the major discipline.

Be at least a sophomore (exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the hiring committee).

Required Work Experience
No required work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference given to students with previous high school or college journalistic experience (newspaper, yearbook, magazine, anthology, broadcasting class, website, etc.).

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None.

Work Hours
Flexible, depending on the student’s academic and extracurricular schedules.

Salary
$12.25 per hour.
