Who We Are
Airborne and Special Operations Museum Foundation is a small 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization in Fayetteville, NC. We provide community outreach and fundraising efforts in support of the ongoing mission of the U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum. Located in downtown Fayetteville, N.C., the Museum is part of the Army Museum Enterprise and is managed by the U.S. Army Center of Military History. The Foundation conducts private and public fundraising to sustain the Museum’s mission, ongoing programs, and future innovative exhibit development.

Job Summary
This role supports the daily operation of the museum’s brand‑new virtual reality experience. The position is responsible for guiding visitors through the experience, ensuring equipment is used safely, maintaining VR hardware, and delivering engaging explanations that enhance the educational value of the exhibit. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about technology, comfortable interacting with visitors of all ages, and able to troubleshoot basic technical issues.

This position is located at 100 Bragg Blvd. in Fayetteville, NC. The museum is open Tuesdays – Saturdays, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Sundays, 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This position will include shifts on both weekdays and weekends.

Job Duties

Welcome visitors and provide a brief orientation to the virtual reality experience

Assist guests with fitting and using VR headsets and controllers

Monitor participants during the experience to ensure safety and proper use of equipment

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of VR equipment between sessions

Start, reset, and manage VR programs and experiences throughout the day

Troubleshoot minor technical issues with VR systems and report larger issues to technical staff

Manage visitor flow and scheduling for the VR experience

Enforce safety guidelines and age/health restrictions when applicable

Assist with opening and closing procedures for the VR exhibit area

Qualifications

Strong customer service and communication skills

Comfortable speaking with individuals and groups of diverse ages

Basic troubleshooting skills with computers or electronics

Ability to stand for extended periods and assist visitors with equipment

Previous museum, education, or visitor services experience is a plus

Ability to multitask in a busy public environment

Team-oriented with a proactive attitude

Friendly, approachable, and patient with visitors
