Mechanical Operator
This role operates and supports high-speed packaging, cutting, and pressing equipment in a regulated manufacturing environment. You set up and perform changeovers on production lines, monitor equipment throughout batch processes, and assist with mechanical adjustments and basic maintenance. You ensure products are packaged, labeled, and documented according to good manufacturing practices while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area.
Responsibilities
Operate and monitor high-speed packaging, filling, capping, labeling, cutting, and pressing equipment throughout the batch process.
Perform machine changeovers and set up equipment for different products, ensuring accurate adjustments and efficient line readiness.
Act as an assistant to maintenance technicians by disassembling and reassembling equipment components as instructed during changeovers and minor repairs.
Follow good manufacturing practice (GMP) guidelines and adhere to all production and quality procedures.
Continuously observe equipment and production output to identify issues and ensure consistent product quality.
Take ownership of production needs by monitoring raw material availability and promptly notifying warehouse staff or supervisors of any missing materials required to complete batches.
Package approved batches and accurately label all finished product containers in accordance with established standards.
Stock supplies and label containers of raw materials as needed to support continuous production.
Use equipment only when it is in proper working condition and perform routine maintenance tasks as required to keep machinery running smoothly.
Clean, sanitize, and inspect tools, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other production equipment to maintain hygienic and safe operations.
Complete end-of-day procedures, including restocking raw materials, performing housekeeping tasks, and controlling and documenting production waste.
Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all safety regulations and procedures and understanding the hazards associated with handling various chemicals.
Train new operators on equipment operation, procedures, and safety practices to ensure consistent performance across the team.
Lead your own production line and coordinate team members, moving them as needed to achieve the most efficient operations.
Follow all safety rules and procedures while performing duties, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
Comply with lockout/tagout procedures when working on or near equipment to prevent unintended start-up.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support overall plant operations.
Essential Skills
Proven experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience operating high-speed packaging equipment, including filling, capping, labeling, cutting, and pressing machines.
Mechanical aptitude to perform changeovers, set up machines, and reset equipment safely and accurately.
Ability to assist with disassembly and reassembly of equipment components under the guidance of maintenance technicians.
Familiarity with good manufacturing practices (GMP) or a strong willingness to learn and follow GMP standards.
Experience monitoring equipment and production processes to identify issues and maintain consistent output.
Capability to use and perform routine maintenance on equipment such as packaging machines, cutters, heat exchangers, and vacuum pumps.
Strong attention to detail for accurate labeling, documentation, and adherence to production procedures.
Ability to train and guide other operators on equipment operation and standard procedures.
Physical ability to perform some heavy lifting and remain on your feet throughout the shift.
Commitment to safety, including following all safety rules and lockout/tagout procedures.
Strong sense of ownership and accountability for line efficiency, product quality, and material usage.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
Work experience operating multiple types of packaging and processing equipment in a production setting.
Experience leading or coordinating a small production team or line.
Comfort working with chemicals and understanding associated hazards and safe handling practices.
Ability to adapt to different shifts if needed, including 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift schedules.
Effective communication skills to work closely with supervisors, warehouse staff, maintenance, and fellow operators.
Strong organizational skills to manage changeovers, raw material needs, and end-of-day procedures efficiently.

Work Environment
This role is based in a general manufacturing environment within a smaller, temperature-controlled plant. You work primarily as a machine operator on production lines, operating equipment such as packaging machines, cutters, heat exchangers, and vacuum pumps. You will be on your feet for most of the shift and will perform some heavy lifting as part of daily operations. The facility follows good manufacturing practices and strict safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, chemical handling guidelines, and routine cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas. Standard shifts operate Monday through Friday, with 1st shift running from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.63 - $18.63/hr.
