JOB SUMMARY
At Burning Man Project, our year‑round staff provides the foundational infrastructure that allows a global cultural movement and a temporary desert city to thrive. We are looking for a People & Talent Partner to serve as the ultimate steward for how we attract, hire, and welcome talent into our year‑round community.

This is a dynamic, dual‑focus position for a culture‑aligned HR professional who thrives on end‑to‑end ownership of the talent acquisition ecosystem. The role focuses on a steady, intentional pipeline of strategic year‑round hires and their integration into the organization, rather than high‑volume corporate recruiting. The position is full‑time, located in San Francisco, CA, and working hours are based on Pacific Time.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
End‑to‑End Talent Acquisition & Strategy (50%)

Full‑Cycle Year‑Round Recruitment: Own the end‑to‑end recruitment process for our steady pipeline of strategic year‑round roles, acting as a trusted partner to hiring managers from initial intake to offer generation.

Intake & Recruitment Alignment: Facilitate kickoff meetings with hiring managers, tap into our internal talent database, and support targeted external outreach when needed.

Interview Design & Process Logistics: Partner with teams to design interview loops, facilitate candidate debriefs, and manage day‑to‑day interview logistics.

Modern Talent Campaigns: Develop innovative strategies and creative recruitment campaigns for year‑round, temporary, and seasonal hiring.

Candidate Experience: Orchestrate an authentic high‑touch candidate journey that reflects Burning Man Project’s culture, values, and community ethos.

ATS Optimization & Administration: Serve as the subject‑matter expert for our Applicant Tracking System (JazzHR), optimizing workflows, maintaining data integrity, and training hiring teams.

Comprehensive Onboarding & Program Evolution (20%)

Onboarding Champion: Architect the onboarding process and collaborate with managers to ensure a rich first 30‑day experience.

Orientation Delivery: Facilitate and improve onboarding logistics, including cohort‑based onboarding during peak windows.

Program Feedback & Iteration: Collect feedback and continuously evolve the onboarding program.

Key Organizational Projects & Infrastructure (25%)

JD Ecosystem Overhaul: Partner with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and audit the database of 100+ roles.

Job Family Development: Create and evaluate distinct job families across the organization.

Job Leveling & Compensation Framework: Build a transparent leveling framework aligned with our nonprofit structure.

Seasonal Sourcing Strategy Consultant: Advise seasonal hiring managers on talent markets and attraction strategies.

Talent Ops SOPs: Document and refine Talent Ops standard operating procedures.

Other Functions and Responsibilities (5%)

Perform other duties as assigned.

Learning and Teaching

Documentation: Assist in creating, publishing, and maintaining process documentation.

Knowledge Sharing: Acculturate and educate junior staff in Burning Man culture and business processes.

Training Development: Collaborate with the education team to develop training materials.

Learning: Pursue ongoing learning to stay current on emerging knowledge, skills, and processes.
