Position Summary
Western Carolina University seeks a qualified part‑time adjunct faculty to enhance its academic program in the broadcasting concentration. These appointments are on a course‑by‑course basis. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and discipline. The university continually develops a qualified pool of candidates, and interested applicants will be contacted to discuss teaching opportunities as needs arise each semester.
Responsibilities
- Teach broadcasting courses on a course‑by‑course basis.
- Develop course materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with program objectives.
- Mentor and evaluate students in the broadcasting concentration.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline) OR substantial professional experience in video/film production.
- Experience working with video and DSLR cameras and basic editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro or other NLE software.
- Knowledge of live television studio is desired.
- All new employees are required to provide official transcripts within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A terminal degree is preferred.
