Have you supported someone who relied on you for an extended period of time? You may be a strong fit for our companion roster at **Duet.**A companion position ranges in hours, but **depends largely on a set and recurring schedule**. In addition to experienced healthcare workers, **we hire** **people with personal experience** **with elder care, memory care, or caregiving**. These can be artists, performers, nursing and graduate students, educators, caseworkers, and individuals from other professional backgrounds who desire a rewarding "encore" or second career. This is a great role for people currently working in a freelance or part-time capacity and looking for a consistent schedule in a meaningful role.**Duet**is a companion care agency serving older adults in the five boroughs. Our mission is to connect our Elder clients with outstanding companions who can improve their quality of life through**social engagement, meaningful activities, and help with daily tasks that get more difficult with age**. Our unique emphasis on matchmaking has fostered connections that last for years.\*\*This job does not require "hands-on" care such as dressing or bathing assistance.**Typical Activities and Responsibilities:**- **Providing companionship** to older adults and individuals with chronic conditions; this may include discussing current events or shared interests, or taking trips to cultural or entertainment venues-**Assisting with non-physical tasks** such as meal preparation, grocery shopping, and light housework like folding laundry or throwing away leftover food items.-**Safety supervision,** standby assistance with ambulation or certain other tasks, medication reminders, adherence to care plans- **For clients with dementia, you’ll need to communicate effectively, provide mental stimulation, and/or safety supervision as necessary.** We advocate for our caregivers, as well as our clients.
