Fiber Artist in Residence – Part‑time
Penn State Lehigh Valley is seeking an artist to create a fiber installation for the library space during the Fall 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
Provide an estimated material list in advance of the project.
Deliver the artist talk, demonstrate techniques, and initiate the weaving process on September 14 (Launch Event).
Maintain ongoing communication with Ann regarding technical aspects during the project.
Finalize weaving to fit a 7’W x 3’H library space using single or multi‑panel configurations (e.g., three 2’W x 3’H panels).
Complete all necessary sewing, finishing touches, and structural details.
Construct and attach the final hanging supports or framing for installation.
Qualifications
BFA degree (MFA preferred).
Experience conducting college and community artist‑in‑residence programs.
Workload & Compensation
Approximately 60 hours, or roughly 5 hours per week, during the Fall 2026 semester.
Hourly rate: $50 per hour.
Remote or hybrid work is not guaranteed; approval is subject to policy.
Additional Requirements
Successful completion of a background check in accordance with University policies.
