Temporary Assistant Video Editor – Department of Music, Azusa Pacific University (Azusa, CA)

The entry-level Assistant Video Editor under the direction of the Associate Director of the Angeles Worship Initiative will work on a variety of projects specifically for AWI and hone in on exceptional video editing skills.

This temporary part‑time position is entirely grant‑funded through Lilly Endowment, Inc., and is set to fund from the date of hire until the expiration of the grant cycle. The SCMYI Angeles Worship Initiative grant project is set to expire on December 31, 2025, upon which time the employee contract will be terminated. In the event of grant renewal, a contract extension may be offered, pending review and approval by the Supervisor & Senior Manager and exemplary performance on the job.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in a creative field or in process of completion.

Required Experience

Proven experience in video editing and post‑production.

Training in multimedia and communications.

Proficient in various video editing tools and other software (DaVinci, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom).

Understanding of digital trends and editing principles.

Primary Duties / Essential Functions

Edit video content for use primarily on social media – Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.

Edit raw footage from AWI events into promotional reels, video clips, or podcasts.

Input graphics, music, dialogue, and/or effects to enhance footage as needed.

Trim footage segments and assemble the sequence of videos.

Assist the Associate Director with recording AWI Podcast episodes with guest artists.

Work with the Associate Director to present a final product that matches the AWI vision and ensures videos meet APU SCE's specifications and guidelines.

Additional hours may be required for attendance and operational tasks during events.

Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.

Keen attention to detail and a deadline‑driven environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage details and follow through.

Knowledge of basic editing principles.

Must be a collaborative and effective team member and team builder.

Mental Demands

In agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian‑based higher education for its students.

Physical Demands

Requires repetitive motion and sitting at a computer keyboard.

Must be able to operate camera/recording, audio and lighting equipment.

Ability to pull, push, bend, grasp, reach and lift up to 20 lbs.

Must be able to climb stairs multiple times in a work day.

Visual Demands

Computer monitor and reading.

Environment

Pleasant office, comfortable temperatures.

Technologies

Proficient in Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.

Software: DaVinci, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom.

Compensation

Grade 8: $21.44 to $24.66 per hour. Compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. APU offers a competitive benefits package.
