Position Summary
The Circulation Supervisor, Evening, Full-time supports Stetson University by providing excellent customer service at the library’s Circulation Desk, managing circulation services, and supervising Circulation student employees who service members of the Stetson Community and other patrons using library materials, spaces, and services. As a member of the duPont-Ball Library Team, the Circulation Supervisor, Evening, Full-time supervises and trains library student employees and collaborates with co‑workers to oversee circulation services and building operations in the late afternoons and evenings. The position requires 37.5 hours per week, Sunday through Thursday. In alignment with Stetson’s Strategic Priorities, the supervisor will support student success by ensuring access to library materials, technology, and spaces while maintaining an inclusive library environment.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Employment duties include, but are not limited to:

Supervises student assistants and trains them in the policies and procedures of the Circulation Department, in collaboration with other Circulation staff.

Staffs the Circulation Desk as needed.

Uses the circulation module of the library’s integrated library system for circulation‐related transactions, including checking out, checking in, renewing library materials, and creating and editing user records.

Employs special procedures for circulating technology, including erasing data, recharging devices, ensuring that copies are included when items are checked in and out, and reporting broken equipment.

Ensures compliance with confidentiality policies and FERPA requirements.

Processes course reserves and serves as liaison for reserves.

Provides stack maintenance and oversees shelf reading; trains student employees on shelving; shifts collections as needed.

Uses the interlibrary loan module of the integrated library system to process interlibrary loan (ILL) lending requests; prepares packages and ships ILL materials; maintains ILL records; sends invoices for lost ILL items.

Works collaboratively with other night staff members and communicates effectively with the Director of Public Services and staff on daytime or weekend shifts as necessary.

Answers questions from library patrons about library policies and procedures, answers basic reference questions, and refers more complicated queries to the on‑call Research Librarian.

Assists patrons with the use of computers, printers, copier, and scanner; troubleshoots routine problems encountered by patrons in their use of library equipment.

Stays current with library and emerging technologies.

Engages in library committees and programming activities to engage the university community.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.

Critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.

Experience using databases such as WorldShare Management System (WMS) or other integrated library systems, and proficiency with productivity software such as Microsoft Office.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

Work Environment
The duPont‑Ball Library is a typical academic library with spaces for collaboration, discussion, or independent study. Noise levels are at a medium level on the main floor where collaborative study is encouraged. The perimeter areas in the building provide more conducive independent study zones. The library’s temperature can be chilly at various times of the year. Library spaces are shown here.

This position reports to the Director of Public Services.
