The Marketing & Programming Manager is responsible for leading all marketing, programming, community engagement, public relations, and placemaking initiatives for The Pike. This role serves as the primary liaison between ownership, tenants, city partners, tourism organizations, community stakeholders, and the public, helping to elevate The Pike as Long Beach's premier
Working closely with Branding, Property Management, and Asset Management, the Marketing & Programming Manager will develop and execute strategic initiatives that drive visitation, increase tenant sales, strengthen community partnerships, and enhance the overall guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Brand Management
Develop and execute annual marketing plans, budgets, and promotional strategies.
Manage property branding, digital marketing, social media, website content.
Coordinate advertising campaigns, sponsorships, media opportunities, and special promotions.
Create monthly and quarterly marketing reports for ownership and asset management.
Programming & Events
Develop and manage a year-round calendar of events, activations, seasonal programming, and community experiences.
Coordinate vendors, entertainment, permits, sponsorships, and operational logistics.
Create experiences that increase visitation, dwell time, and tenant engagement.
Support grand openings, retailer promotions, and community activations.
Source and support brand activations, kiosks, pop-ups, and short-term licensing.
Assist with negotiating and procuring short-term license agreements.
Partner with Property Management to coordinate activation logistics and execution.
Community & Stakeholder Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact with:
City of Long Beach
Nearby hotels and hospitality partners
Community organizations
Tourism and economic development groups
Foster partnerships that support visitation, programming, and economic growth.
Lead all marketing-related communication with tenants.
Coordinate promotional opportunities, events, campaigns, and property updates.
Support tenant marketing initiatives and retailer success.
Facilitate regular tenant meetings and communication programs.
Property Management & Asset Management Support
Collaborate with Asset Management on strategic planning, budgeting, leasing support, and property initiatives.
Support ownership presentations, reporting, and special projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred.
3–5+ years of experience in retail, mixed-use, hospitality, destination marketing, event management, or placemaking.
Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills.
Experience working with municipalities, tourism organizations, and community stakeholders preferred.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
