Salary Range
Annual salary: $87,373.00 – $139,674.00 (Hiring salary range: $83,373.00)
Job Summary
An Information Technology Specialist provides technical support to customers for personal computers, network system infrastructure equipment, including testing, updating, maintaining, and providing training on mainframe client servers and microcomputer software and hardware; responds to helpdesk requests. The role may involve leading and training less experienced IT Specialists, but does not involve full supervisory duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in science from an accredited college or university.
Four years of related specialty IT experience (e.g., system engineering, network engineering, information security, application programming, systems design, database management, GIS experience, custom report writing, or cloud‑based software integration).
Equivalence: an appropriate combination of education and experience.
Advanced technical credentials preferred (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)).
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Installation, maintenance, and enhancement of microcomputer systems and mainframe client servers.
Interrelationship of systems analysis, computer programming, and IT operations.
Current trends in network‑based communications systems.
Computer‑based communications protocols.
Developing database queries and generating reports.
Installing, repairing, and troubleshooting network programs, hardware, and systems.
Cartographic map design, accuracy of presentation, layout and design.
Problem‑solving and logical analysis.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors, management, and users.
Designing complex systems comprising programs, procedures, and forms.
Scheduling and performing preventative and corrective maintenance.
Writing detailed technical reports and analyses.
Developing knowledge of computer systems software and operating systems.
Developing systems software and testing procedures.
Additional Information
Background Check:
Eligible candidates will be required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information.
Probation:
All selected candidates must complete a mandatory six‑month probation.
Eligibility:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies for at least six months; the Director of Human Resources has final authority on qualifications.
