Salary range: $47.05 - $70.58 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description
The Manager, Coding reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards. This health system position manages a group of professionals supporting all campuses including NMH, LFH, CDH, Delnor, Kishwaukee, Valley West, Marianjoy and Centegra. The Manager is responsible for recruitment, coaching, performance management, and salary administration. The role requires visibility at all sites, frequent rounding across regions, and collaboration with physician group leadership related to coding practices and function integration.

The Manager is responsible for maintaining compliance with HIPAA, TJC, CMS, IDPH, Illinois Administration Code and other regulatory agencies, managing department metrics for coding, and ensuring accurate severity of illness and risk of mortality capture. The Manager also leads projects from concept to implementation and interfaces with all areas affected by the project.

Responsibilities

Expert in clinical documentation, coding practices, and regulatory requirements, ensuring consistent compliance.

Evaluate and optimize technology and tools to improve documentation.

Manage overall coding operations.

Lead efforts to design workflow processes for clinical documentation interventions, promoting accurate and timely documentation.

Maintain compliant, consistent, and timely coding practices to positively impact net revenue.

Drive documentation changes to accurately reflect patient characteristics for performance measurement.

Collaborate with system leaders of Coding and Clinical Documentation to sustain system practices across regions.

Qualifications
Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Five or more years in a hospital leadership position

RHIA, RHIT, or CPC certification

Working knowledge of clinical performance improvement

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation at all levels including medical staff and senior management

Demonstrated leadership in change management

Experience using process improvement methodologies and tools

Working knowledge of revenue cycle and reimbursement methodologies

Preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare-related profession
