Social Media Specialist

The Catholic Diocese of Wichita is seeking a Part‑time Social Media Specialist who will be responsible for developing and executing engaging social media content that reflects the beauty and identity of the Catholic Church in support of the mission, pastoral plans, and communication efforts of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita. Through compelling storytelling, photography, videography, and authentic engagement with people across the diocese, this position communicates the Gospel, highlights the work of the Church, and inspires others to embrace a life of evangelization, discipleship, and stewardship. The Social Media Specialist also serves as a resource for parishes by creating and sharing social media content that strengthens local evangelization efforts. This individual will be working 20‑25 hours per week.

Position Requirements

Professional experience in social media management, digital communications, marketing, or a related field required. Three or more years of demonstrated success creating engaging social media content preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Proven experience capturing and editing high‑quality photo and video content for social media using professional or mobile equipment and editing software.

Strong knowledge of current social media platforms, content strategies, trends, analytics, and best practices, with the ability to create compelling written and visual content that engages diverse audiences.

Proficiency with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms.

Experience with video production and editing and graphic design software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent applications.

Strong photography, videography, storytelling, and content creation skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate the Catholic faith in a compelling and engaging manner.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diocesan departments, parishes, and volunteers.

Willingness to work some evenings and weekends to cover diocesan events.

Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing and an active steward in one's parish, integrating and witnessing the Catholic faith through daily work and service.
