JOIN OUR TEAM AS A ROADWAY LIGHTING TECHNICIAN II
This role involves skilled electrical work in the installation and maintenance of roadway lighting systems and other electrical devices.

Responsibilities
Installs and maintains roadway lighting equipment, including poles, load centers, electric services underground and overhead cables, and any other associated equipment. Performs underground cable locates as required. Performs preventative maintenance inspections as required, including cleaning optical systems, replacing lamps, cables, adjusting poles and fixtures. Works on circuits with voltages up to 480 volts, follows electrical safety and lockout procedures. Works from bucket truck or digger derrick truck as required. Periodic night shift work is required for inspections of roadway lighting systems. Employees may be subject to after‑hours call back to assist in emergencies. Assists traffic signal staff and performs related work as required. Schedules maintenance for the FDOT quarterly requirements, maintains database of all lighting systems, maintains stock of required materials, and procures materials that need to be replaced after loss due to storms, accidents and unforeseen issues. Writes and maintains reports of nighttime surveys of lighting for use by other Roadway Lighting Technicians. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Abilities & Qualifications

Gain knowledge of methods, practices, techniques, and materials of the roadway lighting and electrical trade.

Read and work from plans, schematics, and displays.

Follow oral and written instructions.

Troubleshoot and locate defective devices and make repairs.

Use hand and power tools.

Operate a personal computer.

Operate a variety of motor vehicles and trucks including bucket truck and digger derrick truck.

Physical Skills & Working Conditions
Requires working outdoors. Position requires walking, stooping, bending, climbing, and stretching. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires working at heights up to 65 feet above the ground from a bucket truck. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.

Education, Training and Experience
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and four (4) years' experience in electrical construction and maintenance or as an electrical journeyman. Two (2) years' experience in roadway lighting maintenance and/or construction is required. Graduation from an electrical trade school preferred.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations
Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class “B” with Air Brakes. International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) or Florida Department of Transportation Work Zone Certification is required or must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire. Must obtain an International Municipal Signal Association Roadway Lighting Certification level I within first year of employment.

Testing Requirement
All applicants who meet minimum requirements shall be scheduled for the written test. A passing grade on the written test is required prior to an interview.
