This is moderately responsible technical and advanced administrativework involving community engagement activities, employee engagementinitiatives, and departmental budget coordination.
Nature Of Work

This is advanced professional work involving neighborhoodrelations, stakeholder engagement, employee engagement initiatives, anddepartmental administrative coordination.
An employee in this class serves as a lead communityengagement professional responsible for planning, coordinating, andfacilitating public engagement activities designed to strengthen relationshipsbetween the City and residents, businesses, neighborhood organizations, andcommunity stakeholders. Employees independently manage neighborhood engagementactivities, coordinate stakeholder outreach efforts, support employeeengagement initiatives, and assist with departmental budget administration andoperational activities. Work requires substantial initiative, independentjudgment, diplomacy, and the ability to effectively communicate with diverseaudiences. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed throughresults achieved, community response, and program outcomes.
Examples of Duties

Serves as lead liaison for assigned neighborhoods, civicassociations, business organizations, community groups, and stakeholders.
Plans, coordinates, and facilitates community meetings,workshops, stakeholder discussions, and public engagement activities related toCity programs and initiatives.
Builds and maintains relationships with neighborhoodleaders, community organizations, educational institutions, businesses,faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
Coordinates and promotes community meetings, programs, andservices designed to enhance quality of life and strengthen communityparticipation.
Assists neighborhood organizations and community groups inidentifying priorities, establishing goals, and leveraging City and communityresources to address local concerns.
Researches community issues, analyzes stakeholder concerns,identifies emerging trends, and develops recommendations to support informeddecision-making.
Coordinates internal employee engagement activities,recognition programs, employee events, volunteer opportunities, andorganizational culture initiatives designed to strengthen employeeparticipation and collaboration.
Represents the department at community meetings, publicevents, workshops, conferences, and stakeholder forums.
Prepares presentations, reports, surveys, informationalmaterials, and engagement summaries.
Assists with administration of the department budget,including monitoring expenditures, processing invoices, tracking purchases,maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with applicable Citypolicies and procedures.
Coordinates purchasing activities, procurement requests, andcontractual services associated with departmental operations, events, programs,and initiatives.
Prepares budget-related reports, expenditure summaries, andsupporting documentation for management review.
Monitors departmental expenditures and assists with ensuringefficient utilization of budgeted resources.
Provides guidance and technical assistance regardingcommunity engagement best practices and stakeholder outreach strategies.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of : business English, spelling, grammar,and arithmetic; municipal organization; City of Tampa geographical area anddemographics.
Ability to : establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with city officials, department representatives, members ofcommunity groups, and the general public; write and speak clearly and conciselyin a variety of communication settings; deal with public relations problemseffectively, courteously, and tactfully; be flexible in dealing with diverseaudiences; evaluate information, draw sound conclusions, and prepare and submitoral and written reports; maintain files and databases.
Skill in : planning, marketing and coordinating neighborhoodmeetings; computers, MS Office and various digital technologies; preparingclear and concise written reports; maintaining paper and electronic complexrecords; composing, editing, and correcting draft correspondence and reports;maintain files and records; preparing reports.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with abachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing,public or business administration or a related field and 2 years of experiencein community outreach, community engagement, or similar experience, to includesome administrative support experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education (not less thanpossession of a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that wouldreasonably be expected to provide the job related competencies noted above.
Licenses or Certifications

Possession of a valid driver’s license required.
Examination

Evaluation ofeducation and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
Comments

Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. During periods when the Mayor issues an emergency declaration for the City of Tampa, all employees may be required to work in preparation, response or recovery activities related to the stated emergency.
