Search Engineer

Strong software engineering skills with experience building production systems using Python and distributed data/search platforms.
5+ years of experience designing, tuning, and operating Elasticsearch or OpenSearch-based search platforms.
Experience with search relevance metrics and experimentation frameworks such as CTR, conversion, NDCG, recall, precision, or engagement-based evaluation.
Experience with observability and search infrastructure tooling such as Kibana, Logstash, Datadog, Grafana, or related monitoring platforms.
Experience building scalable distributed systems with attention to latency, throughput, relevance quality, and operational reliability.
Familiarity with database architecture and design.
Ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted development tools while maintaining strong engineering quality, observability, testing, and operational standards.
A deep interest in understanding user behavior and improving user experience.
Experience operating production systems, including incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, observability, metrics instrumentation, alerting, and reliability improvements.
A strong test-and-learn mindset.
Ability to mentor and coach team members to drive excellence.
Excellent problem-solving, cooperation, and strategic thinking skills.
Nice-to-Have:
Experience collaborating with Machine Learning Engineers or Data Scientists.
Familiarity with message-queue-based pipelines.
Experience with porting features between search platforms.
