Building scalable crawling, indexing, and retrieval systems, the full-time Search Engineer will work remotely or in a hybrid setting to enhance the performance of Firecrawl's search product while managing infrastructure from day one.
Key responsibilities
Design and develop the systems for crawling, indexing, and retrieval
Optimize latency and cost per query as search volume increases
Collaborate with the search team to improve ranking quality and system performance
Required qualifications
3+ years of experience building production backend or infrastructure systems
Proven ability to operate backend or distributed systems at scale
Experience in managing ambiguous problems and delivering effective solutions
Strong focus on latency, cost, and correctness in system design
Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and iterative development processes
