Brief Description
The Senior Account Executive (SAE) is responsible for leading medical communications projects of various types and sizes for an assigned client or set of clients. The Senior Account Executive will assume responsibilities for duties across multiple projects and may lead segments of a single client, requiring limited oversight from senior Client Services team members. The position requires the ability to take and give direction from / to the integrated team regarding what constitutes smart strategy and exceptional work. The Senior Account Executive has a solid understanding of medical communications agency work, including an understanding of pharmaceutical company structure with experience managing projects for both marketing and medical affairs departments. The Senior Account Executive should demonstrate curiosity for continued learning about medical communications and oncology.
Essential Functions
Manage assigned clients and projects from planning to closeout
Master existing agency processes with ability to train and be a resource for other Account Services staff
Schedule and lead project-related teleconferences with clients and internal team
Create project timelines and ensure team alignment
Develop project estimates and statements of work
Take primary responsibility for project financial health, including management of project expenses, tracking project status for monthly forecasting and billing purposes, and monitoring team hours
Lead internal communications and collaboration across departments, including setting expectations and timelines at project outset and throughout project duration
Think critically to anticipate potential roadblocks or issues for every project
Inform team members and manager of important client and internal team updates
Demonstrate the ability to learn and understand assigned clients’ business to evaluate work based on strategy and objectives
Identify potential new business opportunities by listening closely to client’s needs and perceived gaps, and successfully recommend tactics to clients
Execute successful live and virtual meetings for clients, including management of the following:
Oversee logistics or team managing logistics, including participant communications, venue needs, and partnership with MSS for content needs
Build and maintain relationships with meeting participants, faculty, and other thought leaders
Oversee live meeting compliance including pre‑meeting compliance checks and accurate record‑keeping for Sunshine Act Reporting
Provide onsite live meeting management, including client interactions, participant registration, meeting planning and faculty maintenance when necessary
Partner with freelancers or members of other departments such as Medical Writing, Editorial, Creative, Meeting Planning, Compliance and Accounting for the successful management and execution of projects
Support team growth and development including directly or indirectly managing direct reports; provide mentorship and regular actionable feedback to team members while delegating responsibilities to team and management as needed

Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required. Four to five years’ experience in medical communications required. Oncology experience preferred. Functional knowledge of pharmaceutical company structure and PhRMA guidelines. Functional knowledge of typical medical communications agency tactics including but not limited to advisory boards and other live meetings, strategic content development and thought leader engagement. Experience executing administrative and tactical account work and experience leading tactical projects.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position may supervise employee(s) at the Account Executive and/or Associate Account Executive levels and is responsible for hiring, onboarding, training and development, performance management and firing in accordance with Petauri policies, procedures and practices.
