Posting Summary
As Business Manager I – Financial Reporting, you will lead and deliver enterprise-wide financial reporting for UFA. You will serve as a hands‑on techno‑functional leader accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of operational and financial reports. Leveraging deep expertise, you will be the subject‑matter expert for financial reporting, including chart of accounts, general ledger, sub‑ledger integrations, and reporting structures that accurately reflect business performance and support decision‑making. Positioned in the Financial Data Analytics and Reporting office, you will support a university‑wide reporting footprint for all campuses and units, managing Oracle ERP and Tableau reporting for budgeting, financial planning, HR, procurement, student finance, and campus operations.

Key Responsibilities

Drive stakeholder engagement to define, prioritize, and document reporting requirements, ensuring solutions align with ERP and operational reporting capabilities.

Translate requirements into technical specifications, working closely with end‑users and IT, and independently develop advanced reporting solutions.

Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot ERP and operational financial reports using Oracle reporting tools (OTBI, BI Publisher, OAC, Smart View, FRS), Oracle SQL, and Tableau.

Apply deep knowledge of data flow across Oracle ERP modules, ensuring consistency and accuracy in reporting outputs.

Own data integrity and financial reporting accuracy, aligning with budget, accounting principles, and institutional reporting requirements.

Lead analysis of financial and operational processes to ensure reporting requirements reflect business needs and can be translated into scalable reporting solutions.

Manage and prioritize incoming reporting requests using Jira/ServiceNow, assign and oversee deliverables, and coordinate with stakeholders and IT to ensure timely, accurate delivery.

Provide direct supervision and oversight of reporting team activities, assigning work, setting priorities, establishing performance expectations, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring alignment with reporting standards.

Guide and develop the reporting team through technical direction, mentoring, and performance feedback to strengthen capabilities and quality.

Lead and execute report testing activities during Oracle quarterly updates, coordinating assignments across the team and IT to guarantee functionality and minimal disruption.

Define and maintain operational reporting standards and lifecycle practices, including reviewing and rationalizing existing reports, cleaning up outdated or unused reports, and establishing guidelines for design, documentation, naming conventions, data definitions, folder structures, and security practices.

Serve as the primary escalation point for reporting errors, data issues, and access problems, troubleshooting complex issues and coordinating with technical teams as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Candidates from other disciplines must demonstrate relevant professional experience in financial reporting, ERP systems, or data analytics.

Minimum of 5 years of experience developing financial or operational reports in a complex organizational environment.

Minimum of 4 years of experience within a finance environment, not limited to IT or systems roles.

Technical & Reporting Expertise

Hands‑on experience with Oracle reporting tools, including BI Publisher, Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI), Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), Smart View, and Oracle SQL.

Strong proficiency in SQL (Oracle preferred) and BI Publisher Template Builder for report development and design.

Hands‑on experience developing and maintaining Tableau‑based operational reports.

Experience developing and maintaining reports across Oracle ERP environments.

Experience with testing, data validation, and troubleshooting across reporting environments.

Finance Domain Expertise

Deep applied understanding of financial processes and reporting, including chart of accounts design, sub‑ledger integrations (AP, AR, PPM, Assets, Cash Management), allocations, consolidations, and financial close processes.

Ability to translate financial operations and accounting requirements into ERP reporting logic, data structures, and business rules.

Strong understanding of how financial data flows across ERP systems and modules and the impact on reporting accuracy and reconciliation.

Ability to interpret financial results and reporting outputs, identify drivers of variances, and apply business context to ensure reporting aligns with operational and financial management needs.

Experience supporting reporting requirements for budgeting, financial planning, audit, compliance, and operational analysis.

Leadership, Delivery & Operational Skills

End‑to‑end ownership of financial reporting deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness while proactively managing risks, resolving issues, and meeting deadlines.

Hands‑on leadership (player–coach) model, balancing direct execution with team supervision and delivery management.

Experience managing work intake, prioritization, and delivery using tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.

Ability to assign, review, and oversee work while maintaining accountability for final deliverables and reporting quality.

Experience coordinating with cross‑functional teams, including IT, finance, and business stakeholders, to deliver reporting solutions.

Strong project and organizational skills, managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Analytical & Communication Skills

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions in complex, data‑driven environments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, translating technical concepts into business‑relevant information.

Ability to work under time constraints and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining quality.

Advanced knowledge of Oracle reporting tools, including OTBI, BI Publisher, OAC, Smart View, and Oracle SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education or public sector environments.

Experience with multi‑entity or complex financial structures.

Experience integrating and validating data across multiple systems or platforms.

Proficiency in Oracle ERP, MS Office, Tableau, Excel.
