Title: Audio / Visual Technology and Communications Teacher

Qualifications: *Current Kansas Teaching Certificate with endorsement in either Business Education Comprehensive, Business, Art, or Journalism endorsement on file in the Devin Center
*Health certificate on file in Devin Center
*Highly Qualified according to state of Kansas requirements
*Knowledge and ability to teach Graphic Design and Audio/Video Production utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite (Photo Shop, Illustrator, After Effects, In-Design, Premiere Pro) and a Multi-Camera Studio Production and Recording System (Newtek Tricaster).

BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

The Audio/Visual Technology and Communications Teacher provides curriculum instruction that promotes and supports college and career readiness in the AV Communications Pathway. The instructor will emphasize student proficiencies based on the National and State Career Technology Education Standards and Precision Exam Certification Program and stress pathway concentrators and completers for the A/V Communication Pathway. The instructor will also foster student interest in the A/V Career Field through a variety of A/V productions and video products which will be broadcast through USD 475's local cable channel, Junction City High School's Youtube video sharing website, Junction City High Schools On-Line Newspaper and USD 475 supported Social Media Sites.

The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruct students in technical competencies of Basic Graphic Design through Advanced Graphic Design as established by the National and State CTE Arts, A/V and Communications Career Cluster Standards for the AV Communications Pathway.
Instruct students in the technical and application level competencies of Audio/Video Fundamentals, Digital Media Technology and Audio/Video Production as established by the National and State CTE Arts, A/V Communications Career Cluster Standards for the AV Communications Pathway.
Submit required reports in a timely manner, participate in staff, department, committee, and team meetings.
Obtain instructional resources and materials through processes outlined by the Principal, CTE Coordinator and/or the Director of Teaching & Learning
Keep informed regarding new technologies that facilitate and support student learning.
Support the vision and mission of JCHS, a Career Academy High School; and work to develop and sustain the climate and culture of the academy model.
Participate as a team member with the department, academy and both licensed and non-licensed staff in a comprehensive evaluation, review, and re-evaluation process.
Be knowledgeable in the JCHS Strategic and School Improvement Plan with a focused effort of implementation with fidelity and purpose.
Communicate clearly and accurately with administrators, staff, parents, students and support agencies.
Be an active member of the professional learning community: student, committee and academy meetings, as well as assist in early recognition and prevention of educational problems.
Respect the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, state, and federal laws.
Attend/assist with school events; supervise students in all activities related to classroom and student publications
Strive to communicate the positive aspects of our school program to the public in word and deed.

Term of Employment: Teacher Contract

Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with state regulations and the terms established in the negotiated agreement.
