Overview

The Embarcadero Media Foundation, the premiere news nonprofit in the Bay Area's Tri-Valley, has an immediate opening for the day-to-day editor of our East Bay Division, which includes LivermoreVine.com, DanvilleSanRamon.com and the 2025 CNPA General Excellence First-Place award winner Pleasanton Weekly.
The Weekly and its sister websites are the trusted hyperlocal news and information portal serving readers in Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Sunol, Alamo and Blackhawk. The editor manages a dedicated team of reporters, freelancers and interns to produce a must-read daily Express newsletter for each site, and supports the Editorial Director in the publication of the weekly newspaper. The East Bay Division Editor is part of weekly management meetings and helps to plot the course of the organization as we work to build better communities through accurate, fair, contextual and engaging journalism.
Responsibilities

Lead daily journalism operations for the East Bay Division, coordinating a team of reporters, freelancers and interns to produce the daily Express newsletter for each site and support the publication of the weekly newspaper.
Attend weekly editorial management meetings and contribute to strategic planning for the East Bay Division.
Represent the organization at community events and as a public face for the news brands.
Collaborate with the Editorial Director to ensure accurate, fair, contextual, and engaging journalism.
Qualifications

At least three years of daily journalism experience and experience managing reporters.
Fluent in AP Style; strong line editing skills.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism or a related field.
Knowledge of Google, Adobe and Microsoft tools; familiarity with WordPress is preferred.
Understanding of issues in the Tri-Valley, Alameda County and Contra Costa County is preferred.
Ability to work full-time, primarily 8-to-5 weekdays with some night and weekend work; willingness to attend community events as needed.
Hybrid-work option; in-office attendance at Pleasanton is available if preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $70,000 to $75,000 per year.
