TRUEWERK is looking for an experienced Director of Marketplaces & Retail Media to own and scale how we show up on Amazon, TikTok Shop, and whatever channel comes next. Based in Denver, this role sits at the intersection of commerce strategy, retail media, and brand performance — with real P&L on the line.
You’ll own the full commercial engine behind our marketplace business: media strategy, campaign activation, catalog health, measurement, forecasting, and channel expansion. You know performance because you’ve lived it — hands on keyboard, in the data, figuring out what’s actually working, and building the systems that make growth predictable instead of lucky.
This role calls for someone who can operate at every altitude: pitching channel strategy to leadership on Monday, pulling your own reporting on Tuesday. You connect brand media investment to marketplace results, and you help break down the walls between DTC, wholesale, and marketplace so the whole business runs as one system instead of three.
If you’re a strong project manager who keeps internal teams and agency partners moving together, and you move fast, trust the data, and want a job where the results speak for themselves — we want to talk to you.
Role & Responsibilities

Own the full P&L for Amazon and marketplace channels — revenue, contribution margin, forecasting, and board-level reporting
Set strategic direction for the marketplace business, including channel prioritization, promotional cadence, and long-term growth roadmap
Support demand planning and inventory forecasting for marketplace channels, working closely with operations and supply chain to ensure inventory levels support growth targets and promotional plans
Work closely with our agency partner and internal teams to track and manage inbound shipments, FBA inventory health, restock cadence, and stranded or aged inventory to protect channel performance and margin
Evaluate marketplace expansion opportunities — emerging channels and specialty retail — and build GTM roadmaps that sequence entry without overextending the business
Retail Media & Performance Activation
Own retail media strategy and activation across Amazon Ads and TikTok Shop, staying current on new ad formats, RMN capabilities, and platform developments
Partner with performance and brand media teams to leverage retailer first‑party shopper data beyond the channels we sell on — tapping RMN audience data to build prospecting reach, inform targeting, and extend brand presence to high‑intent shoppers across the retail ecosystem
Partner with e‑commerce and marketing to develop and execute TikTok Shop media and content strategy from launch through scale
Agency & Project Management
Serve as primary point of contact and day‑to‑day lead for Optivations and other agency/vendor partners
Set clear performance expectations for agency partners — scope, deliverables, success metrics, and accountability cadence — with a clear point of view on what stays in‑house vs. what partners own
Build and maintain a project management structure that keeps internal teams, agency partners, and stakeholders aligned across marketplace initiatives
Identify and elevate blockers early, and manage competing priorities to keep initiatives on track
Measurement & Cross-Channel Intelligence
Help eliminate attribution blind spots so leadership has a clear view of how media spend drives commercial performance
Deliver weekly and monthly reporting that gives the executive team and board an honest, forward‑looking view of marketplace performance
Monitor Amazon Rufus and emerging AI‑driven discovery platforms to keep content optimized for how customers search and discover products
Catalog, Content & Digital Shelf
Own the digital shelf across all marketplace channels — PDP optimization, A+ content, brand store experience, SEO, and AI‑optimized copy
Partner with creative and brand teams to ensure marketplace content reflects brand standards and converts at a high level
Build and maintain a catalog management system that keeps listings accurate and performing across every channel
Requirements

Must Have

7-10+ years of hands‑on experience managing a DTC brand’s Amazon and/or Walmart marketplace, with direct P&L accountability
Experience scaling an Amazon or Walmart business from $10M–$20M to $50M+
Deep activation expertise across Amazon Ads — Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, and DSP — with proven hands‑on platform experience
Experience with demand planning, inventory forecasting, and FBA inventory management in a marketplace environment
Experience managing the relationship with a digital media and retail agency, holding partners accountable to clear performance standards
Strong analytical fluency — able to build forecasts, diagnose performance at the root cause level, and translate data into clear executive narratives
Strong measurement mindset, with deep experience in AMC and incrementality testing, connecting media investment to commercial outcomes beyond reported ROAS
Experience with or strong working knowledge of AI‑driven software (Intentwise, Pacvue, Skai, Helium 10, Jungle Scout, etc., or equivalent retail media/marketplace management platforms)
Proficiency with Amazon’s Seller Central or Amazon Marketing Cloud; Walmart’s Seller Center or Walmart Connect; NetSuite; and Shopify
Preferred

Experience at a consumer/lifestyle brand, high‑growth DTC company, or performance‑oriented agency
Background in apparel, outdoor, performance gear, or workwear‑adjacent categories strongly desired
