Sales Representative

Position Overview

A Sales Representative for Smithfield Foods will introduce new products and build strategic customer relationships. The role manages key product categories such as bacon, ham, and fresh pork and works cross-functionally with Business Management, Marketing and Plant Operations to ensure strong execution in the marketplace. This entry-level position provides hands‑on training, real‑world exposure, and growth opportunities.
What You'll Do

Coordinate daily work and manage documentation to support sales operations.
Build and nurture long‑term relationships with existing customers.
Maintain clean, well‑stocked, and visually appealing product displays across all store locations.
Track and analyze daily and weekly sales performance; update teams on promotional effectiveness.
Support growth of sales accounts by managing key metrics and resolving customer complaints.
Travel throughout the assigned territory to engage with current and prospective customers, present product offerings, and highlight key features.
What We're Seeking

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four‑year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Problem‑solving ability and ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; willing to travel up to 80% of the time.
Other Skills That Make You Stand Out

Experience using sales‑related software tools for reporting, planning, and communication is preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Capable of sitting for extended periods and occasionally lift 25 lbs to 50 lbs; regularly sit, stand, walk, reach. Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Travel as needed.
Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range for this position is $50,000-$70,000 annually. Smithfield offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and wellness programs, as well as a relocation package when available.
