Program Coordinator - Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE)
The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District seeks a Program Coordinator for Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE) at Chabot College. This position plans, coordinates, and oversees the RISE program to support students, including collaboration with college and community partners, and promoting services to students who are currently or formerly incarcerated. The role is grant/categorically funded and continuation depends on available funding.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the daily services and activities related to the Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE).
Coordinate, implement, recruit, and promote support services for the RISE program based on program and student needs.
Partner and collaborate with Santa Rita Prison to promote and register students for coursework.
Identify, plan, develop, and implement activities and services that support currently and formerly incarcerated students.
Develop systems to monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; participate in ongoing program reviews.
Maintain records, files, and statistics to ensure compliance with federal and state reporting, including MIS data reporting; prepare required reports.
Coordinate and ensure compliance with statewide Rising Scholars initiatives.
Act as liaison with college and community partners to raise awareness and advocate for RISE services.
Assist in maintaining program financial records; recommend budget adjustments and prepare budget reports as required.
Oversee development of outreach materials (brochures, flyers, posters, social media, website) to raise awareness of RISE services.
Provide staff assistance to the assigned administrator or manager; participate on committees and prepare reports.
Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay informed about issues and trends relevant to related programs; adapt to changing technologies and software to support targeted students.
Coordinate active marketing and social media presence for RISE.
Provide assistance with college-wide activities, events, and programs related to students using the RISE program.
Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Education and Experience
Education/Training:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social sciences, liberal studies, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible administrative, technical, and/or programmatic experience, preferably in outreach, program development, or in an educational institution.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Issues faced by formerly incarcerated student populations and knowledge of community resources and support groups.
Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations including parts of the State Education Code.
Principles and practices of program planning and implementation.
Principles and practices of fiscal, statistical, and administrative record keeping.
Outreach, marketing, and social media principles and techniques.
Administrative research and report preparation.
Effective communication and collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Understanding of diverse backgrounds of community college students and the community at large.
Interpersonal skills, tact, patience, and courtesy.
Office procedures and common software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
Ability to:
Coordinate and direct programs, activities, and operations of the RISE program.
Work independently, organize, and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
Perform detailed and complex administrative and programmatic tasks with speed and accuracy.
Set goals and objectives for program operations.
Maintain databases, update websites, and manage information systems.
Interpret and apply policies, laws, and regulations.
Research information proactively and organize/analyze data.
Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and the public.
Maintain regular contact with students and staff to discuss scheduling and financial transactions as needed.
Provide lead direction, training, and coordination for assigned student assistants and staff.
Prepare and process forms, surveys, and reports; manage financial records and receipts.
Set up and maintain databases and files.
Adapt to changing technologies and learn new systems.
Type and/or enter data accurately and efficiently.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations.
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse student populations.
Work Schedule
40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; hours may vary, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed, 12 months per year.
