People Inc is seeking an Associate Director, Martech Ops, to lead the Martech Operations team responsible for powering the onsite and in-app marketing for newsletters, registrations, subscriptions, and paid memberships.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Audience Conversion, the Associate Director is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of marketing technology platforms, with primary ownership of Piano and Digioh. This role serves as the technical and operational expert, translating business requirements from Marketing, Product, Brand, App and Editorial teams into scalable platform configurations that drive user acquisition, engagement, and subscription growth.

This role is responsible for implementing, configuring, and optimizing onsite and in-app user journeys, audience targeting, gating strategies, and experimentation. This role also establishes the operational standards, governance, and workflows that enable efficient execution and long-term scalability.

The ideal candidate combines marketing technology expertise and subscription and paid membership experience. This is a highly collaborative, technical role that requires strong attention to detail, ability to work cross functionally in a fast paced environment, comfort managing multiple projects at once, and an agile spirit.

Hybrid 3x a week - (Des Moines or New York City)
In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

About The Team | The Team and/or Brand
This role is part of our centralized Growth and Audience Relationship team, responsible for growing direct relationships between our brands and consumers, operating People Inc. brands' newsletter, notification, lifecycle and onsite marketing programs and delivering best in class experiences to millions of subscribers.

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
Team Lead

Manage team workflow, processes and priorities

Lead the Marketing Operations team responsible for executing onsite and in-app marketing experiences and user journeys. Develop and manage onsite marketing campaigns, registration and subscription journeys, A/B tests, gating/paywall strategy, offer flows and decision logic, and audience segmentation and targeting rules.

Work closely with stakeholders to manage timelines, roadmaps and expectations

Develop air traffic control system and documentation for marketing campaigns

Platform Expertise

Serve as a platform expert and operator that powers our newsletter, app, paid subscription and membership growth, supporting marketers, brands, and business lines

Manage platform configuration, campaign build, feature enablement, and ongoing optimization

Partner with internal stakeholders to translate marketing, brand and product needs into platform capabilities

Manage execution of new units, triggers, and user flows in partnership with Marketing, Product and Martech platform

Responsible for day-to-day platform support and technical aspects of campaign set up and QA

Partner with data and marketing teams to develop data schema within the platform to build user profiles and audience cohorts

Manage platform releases, feature enhancements, integrations, and vendor relationships for marketing technology solutions

Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Data teams to troubleshoot issues, improve platform capabilities, and implement new functionality

Support Subscription and Conversion Optimization

Partner with Marketing and Product on key growth initiatives focused on subscription acquisition and conversion optimization

Enable teams to test messaging, offers, and user journeys within platform

Implement and manage A/B testing frameworks to improve conversion rates and user engagement

Campaign Operations

Maintain comprehensive documentation for all campaigns

Provide platform guidance and training to internal users

Act as a bridge between technical teams and marketing stakeholders

Coordinate with vendor on new features, implementation and platform capabilities

Design and improve workflows that increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enable scalable campaign execution across multiple teams

Lead QA process, establishing quality assurance processes to ensure campaigns, targeting logic, and user experiences are functioning as intended before launch

Governance and Best Practices

Establish standards for platform usage, testing, and campaign management

Document processes and maintain operational best practices for platform administration

Build scalable processes that allow teams to leverage the platform effectively

Drive continuous improvement in platform performance and operational efficiency

Share marketing experiences across brands and product lines

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Platform Ops, Growth Marketing Operations, Product, or a related field.

Experience

8+ years of experience in marketing, marketing technology, marketing operations, subscription or growth platforms

Hands‑on experience managing technical components of platforms such as Piano, Wunderkind, Digioh, or similar

Strong understanding of subscription funnels, conversion optimization, and lifecycle marketing

Experience with A/B testing frameworks and marketing experimentation

Knowledge of onsite targeting/segmentation and campaign optimization

Familiarity with marketing analytics and campaign measurement

Understanding of how data needs to be structured within the Martech tool for executional use

Experience working cross‑functionally with marketing, product, and engineering teams

Proven ability to develop best practices and document processes to enable marketing teams to drive scalable growth

High level of organization and attention to detail, with experience managing multiple priorities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Comfort working in a highly matrixed, cross‑functional environment

Travel Required (Approximate) 5%

Pay Range
Salary: New York: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
