Technical Publication Writer & Coordinator – Outdoor Power Equipment
Job Overview:
JD North America (JDNA) is a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of outdoor power equipment for residential and commercial customers. The Technical Writer will focus on developing, writing, releasing and editing content for operator’s manuals, setup guides, and any related product technical publications. They will work closely with various teams within JD North America, which include product, marketing, engineering, sales, and suppliers to bring the technical publications, illustrations, warning & functional labels for products from concept to production launch. The technical writer will also be required to coordinate and prioritize all technical publication, illustrations, warning & functional labels activities at JDNA.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
· Write Technical Publications:
o Design, develop, write, proof and revise operator’s manuals, setup guides, and instruction sheets using publishing and illustrating software, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat).
· Project Management:
o Manage people & project timelines, budget, monitor and resource progress throughout the product development cycle.
· Cross-functional Collaboration:
o Work with and lead various product teams within the US and outside the US.
o Communicate effectively with Internal management teams in North America (US & Canada) and outside North America.
· Documentation:
o Documenting all aspects of the technical publication process.
· Compliance:
o Ensuring all products meet industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Experience: Minimum of 3 years of work experience writing technical publications for consumer products and/or equipment.
· Demonstrate ability to plan and schedule work activities effectively. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, in a small, fast-paced business culture.
· Proficiency in business software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Office 365) along with publishing and illustrating software, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat).
· Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
· Team player with self-starter, flexible and creative with strong analytical skills
· Working knowledge of standards for technical content (ANSI, ISO, etc.)
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and other related engineering design and manufacturing documentation as required (Schematics, Final Assembly Drawings, Illustrated Parts Lists, etc.).

Compensation and Benefits:
· Competitive base salary $75,000 - $90,000
