POSITION TITLE:

Sr. Retail Designer - American Eagle

REPORTS TO : Manager - Retail Design, American Eagle

PURPOSE:

The primary focus of this position is the design and development of new retail spaces and renovations. This individual must possess a thorough understanding of retail architecture with an emphasis on space planning, and collaborate closely with cross functional partners to evaluate and execute design solutions that align with the American Eagle Brand.

Responsibilities

Manage assigned design projects from concept through construction with guidance from internal leadership team.
Translate existing brand standards into creative design solutions for new retail spaces and renovations that the overall brand strategy.
Support development of new design strategies as required to adapt the current design to atypical spaces.
Research materials, fixtures, and emerging retail trends to support continuous improvement of the retail environment.
Collaborate with internal partners to solve design challenges and contribute creative solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare presentation materials and/or renderings as required for internal and external design reviews.
Perform due diligence on landlord design criteria, local building codes, and signage requirements to ensure prototype designs can be successfully executed.
Partner with Store Operations + Visual Merchandising to ensure that the space meets functional requirements.
Produce coordinated design development packages including plans,fixture layouts, elevations, and any unique design details for each project.
Collaborate directly with external consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
Review consultant drawing packages throughout the design process to ensure design intent is accurately captured.
Partner with the Construction team to identify challenges presented by the space including structural issues and site issues that could affect budget, schedule and design integrity
Conduct site reviews and punch list visits as required for critical projects.
Qualifications

Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Retail Design, Store Planning, Architecture, or equivalent required
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or Equivalent required
Proficiency with AutoCAD (latest release), Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp & rendering software required
Ability to interpret & visualize architectural drawings and details.
Strong understanding of Architectural Drawing standards, construction detailing, and building means & methods
Ability to independently manage multiple design projects and multitask through aggressive schedules.
Analytical & creative problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and reporting
Demonstrates collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
Pay/Benefits Information

Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
