The Level 3 Designer is an experienced architectural professional who contributes to the design, coordination, and technical development of projects from concept through construction. Working both independently and collaboratively with principals, project managers, project architects, consultants, and clients, this individual manages significant portions of project scope while supporting design development, project coordination, technical documentation, and construction phase services. The Level 3 Designer demonstrates sound judgment, strong communication and organizational skills, and a commitment to continued professional growth. Experience or interest in higher education and historic or existing buildings is a plus.
Position reports to: Project Manager, Principals
Responsibilities:
Independently plan and execute assigned project tasks while contributing to the overall success of the project team.
Develop design concepts and communicate design intent through drawings, models, renderings, and presentations.
Prepare and coordinate construction documents throughout all phases of project delivery.
Coordinate with consultants and integrate structural, MEP, civil, and specialty systems into project documentation.
Apply knowledge of building systems, materials, codes, accessibility requirements, and constructability in design solutions.
Participate in client, consultant, and stakeholder meetings and communicate project progress effectively.
Conduct site visits, field verification, and existing conditions assessments as needed.
Support quality control through careful document coordination, technical review, and adherence to firm standards.
Participate in construction phase services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site observations.
Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced designers while continuing to develop technical and professional expertise.
Minimum Qualifications:
Professional degree in Architecture or related design discipline.
Actively pursuing architectural licensure.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Strong understanding of architectural design, construction documentation, building systems, codes, and project delivery.
Proficiency in Revit/BIM, Adobe Creative Suite, and visualization software.
Strong graphic, verbal, and written communication skills.
Excellent organization, time management, and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and manage project responsibilities with minimal supervision.
