Job Summary
The Partnership Manager, Tax is responsible for providing tax and consulting services to Pass‑Through clients.
Job Duties
Performs tax planning, preparation and research for Pass‑Through business, manages client engagements, supervises and reviews work of team staff members, works closely with clients as well as internal managers and partners.
Performs write‑up of books and records for the business as well as composes written tax advice or responses to IRS inquiries.
Contributes to client satisfaction by providing timely services and work product.
Demonstrates an understanding of tax concepts and actively pursues increased tax knowledge through client assignments and current tax developments.
Tax compliance: ensures client compliance with authorities while minimizing tax burdens, and ensures compliance with firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual; includes top‑level review of T/R, resolving issues with client and Assurance, planning and reviewing processes (budgeting, staffing, monitoring engagement process, timely billing, collection of A/R), managing client relationships, and providing timely advice.
Research: identifies when research is needed, frames issues, reports analysis, applies firm standards, involves specialists.
Strategy development: introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve client positions, reviews studies of tax implications, offers alternative actions, identifies lessons learned, and offers input to improve processes and methods.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Build a team of professionals by training and collaborating to serve high net worth clients.
Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
Review work prepared by associates and senior associates, provide review comments.
Train associates and seniors on current software tools.
Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates.
Provide verbal and written performance feedback.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required).
Master’s degree in Taxation (preferred).
Experience
Five (5) plus years of public accounting experience in private client area, including individual, estate, partnership, S‑corporation, trust, and private foundation tax/consulting clients (required).
License & Certifications
CPA certification required.
Software
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Advanced knowledge of subchapter K of the Internal Revenue Code (1986 amended).
Working knowledge of Targeted Capital Account Agreements.
Knowledge of 704(b) Capital & Tax Capital account maintenance.
Knowledge of 704(c) allocations.
Knowledge of optional basis adjustments under sections 734 & 743.
Knowledge of section 752 liability allocations.
