International Business Times (ibtimes.com) is a global digital media company covering business, finance, technology, and world affairs. We provide high-impact news coverage through a traditional Western values perspective. We are currently in an active growth phase and seeking a driven, versatile reporter to strengthen our editorial output and expand our coverage.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a talented and motivated Writer/Reporter to produce timely, accurate, and engaging news stories across a range of topics, with a working knowledge of business and finance news. You will contribute to IBT's mission of delivering high-impact journalism to a global audience, working closely with editors to identify and develop stories that resonate with readers and perform well across digital platforms. This is a role for a generalist journalist who is comfortable covering diverse beats while bringing a solid understanding of business and economic contexts to their reporting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting & Writing: Produce well-researched, accurate, and compelling news articles on a daily basis across a variety of topics, including but not limited to business, finance, technology, and current affairs.
- Story Development: Identify and pitch original story ideas with strong news value and audience appeal, staying ahead of trending topics and breaking news.
- SEO & Digital Publishing: Write with a strong awareness of SEO best practices, optimizing headlines, structure, and keywords to maximize discoverability on Google News, Discover, and search.
- Data‑Informed Coverage: Use traffic and trend tools (GA4, Chartbeat, Exploding Topics, etc.) to inform story selection and understand what content resonates with IBT's global readership.
- Collaboration: Work closely with editors and fellow reporters to meet publishing targets, maintain editorial standards, and support a fast‑paced, high‑volume newsroom.
REQUIREMENTS
- Journalism Experience: 2+ years of experience in digital news writing, with demonstrated ability to produce high-quality content under deadline pressure.
- Business & Finance Literacy: Working knowledge of business, finance, and economic news — enough to report on these topics accurately and accessibly. Specialization in business/finance is preferred but not required.
- News Judgment: Sharp instincts for identifying stories with global relevance and audience appeal.
- Digital Savvy: Familiarity with SEO principles, CMS platforms, and digital publishing workflows. Well versed with AI tools in a journalism context is a must.
- Strong Writing Skills: Exceptional written English with the ability to produce clear, engaging, and accurate copy at speed.
- Adaptability: Comfortable shifting across beats and covering breaking news as priorities evolve in a dynamic newsroom.
COMPENSATION
$5,000 USD per month ($60,000 USD per year) + Benefits.
