Job Summary and Qualifications
The

AVP Sourcing

is responsible for developing, executing and implementing the Core GPO or Medical Device contracting efforts related to a major segment of the national portfolio (e.g., Nursing, Surgery, Medical Device, Medical Equipment). This individual must develop and execute innovative industry leading cost‑savings strategies that deliver significant and measurable financial and operational value to members through the assigned portfolio. The role involves enhancing the value of the existing portfolio and expanding it to become the most comprehensive in the industry.

This individual directs and manages a team of contract negotiators and a portfolio specialist, and collaborates with the entire sourcing functional team (financial analyst, clinical board operations, legal, membership). Responsibilities include developing and leading the Core GPO assigned portfolio team members to ensure an effective, knowledgeable, customer‑focused team environment that can be effectively measured with performance‑based metrics. The individual establishes objectives, develops and executes operational plans and strategies, and ensures business functions support and contribute to Core GPO overall performance. Guidance is provided by executive leadership.

Major Responsibilities

Operations – maintain various aspects of the Sourcing operations specific to the assigned portfolio, including financial and budgetary considerations, revenue, customer relationships, and leadership communication. Additional responsibilities include team integration, leadership and personnel development, and development of an industry‑leading contract portfolio and efficient, scalable sourcing processes.

Strategic Development – take a lead role in the development and execution of Core GPO business direction and strategic plan. Gain consensus from member boards and internal departments on contract strategies and contract awards.

Communication – lead all aspects of communications with internal and external customers, including collateral and media development and interdepartmental coordination.

Execution – ensure strategic vision becomes a viable, value‑based solution that is executable. Manage initiatives and teams in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, deliver projects without much guidance, and exceed contracting goals established in the annual contracting work plan.

What you will need for this role

Bachelor’s Degree required.

7–10 years of related healthcare or industry experience required.

Hospital Operations or Healthcare Sourcing preferred.

Occasional travel required, not on a routine basis.
