Customer Specialist I HME

As a Customer Service Specialist I, you are a key connection point between patients, caregivers, case managers, physicians, and internal teams. Your work helps ensure referrals are processed accurately, orders are completed on time, and billing is handled with care and precision.

You'll handle a variety of important administrative, referral, and billing functions that keep patient care moving smoothly:
Coordinate and process referrals and orders from case managers, referral RNs, physician offices, and other referral sources
Ensure assigned tasks and orders are completed within 5 business days, with accurate documentation and appropriate follow-up
Communicate with patients, providers, and internal departments via phone, email, and other communication tools in a professional and caring manner
Respond to and resolve patient billing questions, concerns, and account inquiries with empathy and accuracy
Post daily payments including cash deposits, EFTs, and internal transfers, and assist with reconciling deposited funds
Support sales order confirmation processes to ensure accuracy and completeness
Perform accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up activities to help ensure timely reimbursement
Scan, upload, and maintain required documentation for insurance and compliance requirements
Process adjustments, refunds, and billing corrections according to policy and procedure
Collaborate with team members to support departmental goals and contribute to a positive team environment
Assist with additional duties and special projects as assigned
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Basic computer skills and comfort using systems and applications
Preferred:
1 year of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Experience in healthcare, billing, customer service, pharmacy, or data entry
Familiarity with medical terminology
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset
