Technical Designer

Position Overview
Our client is looking for a Technical Designer to be a vital part of the team, focusing on creating women’s apparel from start to finish. This role involves developing precise technical documents, ensuring proper garment fit, and collaborating with various teams to uphold top-notch standards for quality, fit, and design.
The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, exceptional attention to detail, and strong collaboration skills to maintain brand cohesion throughout the product development process.
Duties
Establish and update detailed tech packs, including garment illustrations, measurements, grading, construction specifics, and requirements.
Formulate and oversee Bills of Materials (BOMs), care labels, packaging needs, carton markings, and other related documentation.
Lead and participate in fit sessions with live models.
Analyze fit, recognize necessary adjustments, and clearly relay feedback to vendors and internal teams to achieve the desired fit, function, and product integrity.
Evaluate prototypes, fit samples, and pre-production items in partnership with pattern creators and manufacturing partners.
Guarantee all samples meet set standards for fit, quality, construction, and design intent before production.
Identify challenges in development and construction throughout the product lifecycle.
Suggest practical solutions balancing design aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability, and cost goals.
Work closely with Design, Product Development, Production, and external collaborators to ensure successful product completion.
Support projects to maintain alignment with timelines, quality expectations, and brand guidelines.
Utilize knowledge in fabrics, trims, garment construction, and manufacturing techniques to aid in product development and execution.
Aid in setting and maintaining quality standards across all products.
Promote consistency in garment performance, durability, comfort, and overall customer satisfaction.
Requirements
Obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field.
3–5 years of Technical Design experience in the apparel sector.
Prior experience in women’s apparel is mandatory; familiarity with outerwear and/or activewear is advantageous.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and CAD software.
Robust understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit assessment.
Exceptional eye for detail with precise measurement and grading skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities, capable of cross-team collaboration and vendor interaction.
Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Adept at managing multiple projects and thriving in a fast-paced environment.
