Outerwear Designer- Womens

Client Overview: Privately owned and operated outerwear manufacturer, with more than 40years of experience as a leader in quality outerwear, with its own proprietary and licensed brand names as well as diverse private label offerings.

Position Overview: We are looking for a true outerwear designer with hands-on experience developing women's outerwear. This is a small-team role in New York City. The person needs to be able to work closely with the merchant and technical designer to manage the development process from concept through production handoff.

Key Responsibilities:
• Research trend, color, fabric, trims, and competitive outerwear product
• Develop seasonal women's outerwear concepts
• Create flat sketches, line sheets, and detailed tech packs
• Work on fabric, trim, lining, and hardware
• Review samples, lab dips, trims, and fit comments
• Work closely with the merchant and technical designer throughout the development process
• Maintain organized updates to tech packs, samples, and development timelines

Qualifications:
• Strong women's outerwear design experience
• Strong Adobe Illustrator skills
• Ability to create detailed flat sketches and tech packs
• Strong understanding of outerwear construction, fabrics, trims, linings, hardware, fit, and garment details
• Experience reviewing samples and development comments
• Organized and able to manage multiple styles at once
• Experience working in a PLM system
• Experience in a small-team environment
• Experience with private label, wholesale, or retail-driven product development
