Job Description
Production Artist and Finisher Technician

Position Description
The Production Artist and Finisher Technician will take original art and resize for different applications as well as produce simple designs to be used for print production. They will also send print ready files to the copy machines, and wide format printer. They will operate bindery machines, paper cutters, forklift, and related equipment. Performs manual and automatic operations associated with the bindery process and does finishing work associated with wide format printing such as hand cutting and grommeting.

Reports To
Director of Print Shop

Scope of Responsibility

Resizes files created in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Creates simple designs to be used for print production.

Sends files to print on wide format printer and copy machines.

Operates all bindery equipment in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Ability to change rolls of material for wide format printer.

Performs finishing work for wide format printing including posters, banners and yard signs and ability to apply material to a variety of substrates.

Supports clerical functions of the Print Shop as needed, including answering phones, responding to emails, supporting billing, and other general office support duties.

Distributes finished products as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Print Shop.

Skills and Qualifications
We seek detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Proficient with Microsoft office.

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.

Ability to work independently.

Knowledge of the operation of copy equipment.

Desirable Qualifications

Associates degree or higher in Graphics or Visual Arts.

Experience in Print Shop workflow.

1 year related experience is preferred.

Knowledge of Adobe design programs.

Knowledge of running wide format printers and related finishing equipment.

Knowledge of the operation of bindery equipment.

Physical Involvement
Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
