Role Overview We are seeking an Office Manager for a Japanese startup company.
While you do not need to have experience covering all the items listed below, gross-up payroll experience and support operations for expatriates are required.
Responsibilities Arranging and managing office IT in collaboration with local IT vendors and the IS department of the Japanese subsidiary Arranging equipment such as PCs and smartphones to be provided
Security settings for new and departing employees, setup of internal tools, etc.
Creating management and operational rules
Human Resources (collaboration with external contractors as needed) Attendance Management
Supporting recruitment activities (communicating with applicants, requesting document reviews, setting up interviews, etc.)
Hiring and termination procedures (enrollment and withdrawal from social insurance and labor insurance, etc.)
Procedures for changes in personal status
Orientation for new employees
Payroll calculation and confirmation of results
Operation of human resources systems
Support for expatriates (arrangement of benefits, etc.)
Respond to changes in employment regulations and rules due to local legal revisions
Accounting (work with external contractors as needed) Gross-Up payroll for expatriates
Processing of vouchers, journal entries (bookkeeping)
Accounts receivable and accounts payable management
Work Style Remote from Maryland, New York, or Massachusetts.
Part-time or Full-time (3 to 5 days a week) is negotiable.
Required availability for early morning meetings with Japan.
Required to visit the office (near Massachusetts) about once a month.
Working Location Office: MA. Daily operations will be conducted remotely.
Salary / Benefits Full-time: $60,000 - $70,000 / year (flexible based on qualifications and schedule 3/5 days).

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Experience in HR-related administrative work
IT skills sufficient to set up internal tools
Business English skills sufficient for internal communication within the US and with various vendors
Japanese language skills sufficient for internal communication with Japan
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in recruitment at a US subsidiary (support experience is also acceptable)
Experience in expanding an organization from a single-person office manager to manage a team of several to several dozen employees.
