Responsibilities include

  • Direct the firm's talent acquisition and professional development strategies in partnership with department chairs and firm leadership to support long-term growth, business objectives, and workforce planning
  • Develop and execute innovative recruiting strategies that position the firm as an employer of choice within the legal and real estate industries
  • Lead all attorney recruitment efforts, including lateral partners, associates, contract attorneys, law students, and externs, while overseeing the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of administrative professionals in collaboration with the Hiring Partner and Chief Operating Officer
  • Manage the firm's first-year associate and externship programs, including law school outreach, candidate sourcing and evaluation, interview coordination, offer management, onboarding, and program administration
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with legal search firms, law schools, bar associations, and professional organizations to strengthen recruiting pipelines and enhance candidate diversity
  • Partner with firm leadership, practice groups, Human Resources, Benefits, Marketing, and Business Development to develop and implement initiatives that enhance recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and the firm's overall employee experience
  • Oversee attorney and staff onboarding, orientation, integration, mentoring, and ongoing professional development initiatives to support successful integration
  • Collaborate with department chairs and practice group leaders to support associate development, mentoring programs, performance management, and career progression
  • Manage the firm's mid-year and year-end performance review processes, including planning, administration, communications, timelines, and coordination with firm leadership to support consistent and effective performance management
  • Anticipate firmwide training needs and, in collaboration with partners and the Professional Development Committee, develop and oversee educational programs tailored to attorneys, professional staff, and practice group needs
  • Manage the firm's Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program, including Accredited Provider renewal, regulatory compliance, program administration, and attorney CLE reporting
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the firm's Pro Bono Committee, coordinating initiatives, external partnerships, and attorney engagement opportunities
  • Monitor legal industry trends and best practices in recruiting, professional development, and talent management to continuously enhance firm programs and processes
  • Represent the firm at recruiting events, law schools, networking functions, and industry organizations, serving as an ambassador for the firm's culture and employer brand
  • Negotiate and manage vendor agreements, firm memberships, and recruiting, training, and professional development budgets
  • Partner with the Chief Operating Officer on strategic firm initiatives and operational projects

Experience/Skill

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment, with experience in legal recruiting, staffing, talent management, attorney development
  • Experience managing law firm professional development programs, including CLE administration, attorney training, and compliance requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and adaptable, with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated discretion, judgment, and professionalism when handling confidential information
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with law firm technology platforms, Microsoft Office, and other business systems, with the ability to quickly learn and leverage new tools
  • Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and work independently and collaboratively while maintaining professionalism under pressure
  • Flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of the firm
