Job Summary
The Audio Producer/Editor plans, produces, and edits radio programsfor WGCU. The position coordinates production scheduling, guestlogistics, recordings, and supports production activities forbroadcast, online, and live programming and events.
WGCU is Southwest Florida's source for PBS and NPR. A member-supported service of Florida Gulf Coast University, WGCUprovides educational programming that inspires, informs and engagesour community. Serving all or part of 12 counties in south andSouthwest Florida, with five distinct digital TV channels, two FMradio channels, two HD radio channels, and multiple websites, WGCUdelivers national and international programming, and develops,produces and delivers relevant, informative and educational localprograms to the region.

Job Description
Typical duties include but are not limited to:
The producer contributes weekly to WGCU's signature radioprograms, as a producer, scheduler, writer and editor.
The producer plans program topics in conjunction with theprogram host, Editors and other newsroom staff.
Schedules guests for each program and coordinates all logisticsfor taping.
Assists host with researching topics.
Oversees and assists with all show tapings.
Supports live/offsite production activities, including audiosetup, event execution, and equipment breakdown.
Edits and produces all final programs for air and on-line.
Assists with program promotion both on-line and off theair.
Assists with maintaining statistics and records of on-air newscontent for CPB, FCC, and internal use.
Other Duties:
May supervise student workers, interns, or OPS staff asassigned.
Participates in on-air fundraising campaigns.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
Required Qualifications:
This position requires either six years of directly relatedfull-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degreefrom an accredited institution in an appropriate area ofspecialization and two years of full-time experience directlyrelated to the job functions.
Professional broadcasting news experience.
Experience with audio digital editing.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience,and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in anappropriate area.
Two years of public radio experience producing a talk show orpublic affairs show.
Experience with field audio recording.
Experience as an on-air host at a public radio station.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proven ability to think strategically and approach challengeswith creativity.
Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, andholding oneself accountable.
Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectivelyacross teams.
Knowledge of public radio core values and current trends inpublic broadcasting.
Knowledge of public broadcasting industry; awareness of newtechniques and practices.
Knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines establishedby professional organizations and/or governing agencies.
Excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills.
Skill in current digital audio editing and general desktopsoftware applications.
Skilled in researching topics for news and interview broadcastsutilizing various resources.
Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize andcomplete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport withuniversity faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
Ability to maintain high journalistic standards.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations andenvironments.
Ability to produce short two-ways, long-form live interviews,and sound-rich radio.
Ability to use microphones, portable recording devices, andradio studio production equipment.
Ability to collaborate and work effectively within thecommunity and willing to contribute to a team effort.
Ability to diffuse and respond professionally to stressfulsituations and difficult people.
