Description of Work
The Media Services Supervisor provides front-line technical and operational supervision for Nebraska Public Media’s Media Services department, including television, radio, and streaming traffic operations, underwriting contract services, metadata support, asset registration, and the Media Services Helpdesk. This position trains, supports, and supervises Media Services staff in the daily use of scheduling, automation, metadata, asset management, and related media delivery systems to ensure accurate broadcast logs, timely spot placement, reliable streaming support, and continuity of services.
The position supports implementation of approved systems, workflows, and process changes; troubleshoots operational and technical issues; assists with rights management, playlist, distribution, and metadata compliance; and serves as a working supervisor to maintain operational coverage when needed. This role works under the direction of Media Operations leadership to ensure Media Services processes are carried out consistently, accurately, and in alignment with established standards and organizational needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in broadcast engineering, media technology, information systems, business management, communications, or related field and three (3) years of experience in broadcast traffic, media operations, broadcast engineering support, or related environment.
Additional years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge of underwriting contract workflows, including availability, spot placement, inventory maintenance, performance affidavits, and contract fulfillment.
Knowledge of metadata entry, asset registration, rights management, playlists, and distribution standards for broadcast and streaming platforms.
Knowledge of broadcast automation, streaming, encoding, database systems, scheduling/traffic systems, and related technical infrastructure used in media operations.
Ability to troubleshoot routine operational, scheduling, automation, streaming, metadata, and media delivery issues and elevate complex technical concerns as needed.
Ability to supervise, train, support, and provide direction to staff.
Ability to coordinate effectively with internal departments, vendors, and internal customers.
Skill in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, sufficient to review reports, track workflow information, and support operational documentation.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of ProTrack, PBS Edisen sIX, PBS Media Manager, EIDR , IMDb, YouTube, Media Pulse, remote support tools, or comparable media operations platforms.
Knowledge of applicable State of Nebraska, University of Nebraska, FCC , industry, and organizational procedures related to Media Services operations.
Ability to identify recurring workflow issues and recommend improvements to support accuracy, efficiency, service continuity, and customer support.
