Our client, a local theatre company in Welkom , is looking for a talented Music Composer & Arranger to contribute to their upcoming productions. This part-time role involves creating original musical scores and arrangements that enhance the narrative and emotional impact of the plays. You will work closely with the director and creative team to develop music that perfectly complements the performance. This is an exciting opportunity for a versatile musician to showcase their skills within the vibrant Free State arts scene.
Key Responsibilities

Compose original musical scores tailored to the specific requirements of theatrical productions.
Arrange existing musical pieces to fit the style and needs of the performance.
Collaborate with directors and other creative team members to define the musical direction and mood.
Create sheet music and lead sheets for musicians and performers.
Oversee the recording or live performance of musical elements during rehearsals and production.
Ensure musical cues are precise and integrated effectively with stage action and dialogue.
Requirements

Proven experience as a music composer and/or arranger, with a portfolio demonstrating diverse musical styles.
Strong proficiency in music theory, harmony, and orchestration.
Experience with music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale, Dorico) and Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs).
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate musical ideas effectively.
Familiarity with different theatrical genres and their musical demands.
Bachelor's degree in Music Composition, Arranging, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
