Interaction Designer

Interaction Designer – GDS / GOV.UK Up to £495 per day (Outside IR35) Primarily remote 6 months
My client is an instantly recognisable consultancy who require an experienced Interaction Designer to join a multidisciplinary team delivering digital services within UK Government. You will design accessible, intuitive and user-centred services, turning complex processes and requirements into simple user journeys and interactions.
Key Requirements: Proven experience working as an Interaction Designer on complex digital services
Strong experience delivering UK public-sector services using GDS standards
Experience using the GOV.UK Design System, components and interaction patterns
Strong hands-on experience creating and iterating prototypes using Figma
Experience applying user-centred design based on evidenced user needs
Strong experience working with user research and using findings to improve designs
Understanding of WCAG 2.2 AA, accessibility and inclusive design
Experience designing coherent end-to-end user journeys across different devices and channels
Proven experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams
Comfortable collaborating closely with developers and wider technical teams
Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to explain and challenge design decisions
Nice to have: Experience as an Interaction Designer or comparable user-centred design role
Practical experience with the GOV.UK Prototype Kit
Experience prototyping using HTML/CSS
Previous experience working with Government departments or complex public-sector organisations
Experience supporting services through GDS or equivalent service assessments
