Basic salary: Between RM6,210.00 to RM14,370.00 (based on experience)

2. Scope
The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and the officer shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties and such other obligations as are normally required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.
The officer should also undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part and parcel of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.
The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards and Committees to which he, being an academic staff member, may be appointed as a member by virtue of the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or of any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/ Department.
The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community.
The officer is also expected to advise and guide students in relation to their character, behaviour and moral conduct. In short, he is not only a teacher (Mu'allim), a scholar ('Alim) but also a moral educator (Murabbi).
3. Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
- Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a number of platforms.
- Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.
- Setting and grading assignments, tests, exams and other forms of assessments (formative and summative) for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Attending and participating in any workshops, events and trainings organized by the Kulliyyah.
- Conducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
- Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.
- Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution as well as outside of the institution.
- Providing support to students and other colleagues.
- Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
- Supervising internship students, if assigned.
- Monitoring student's association co-curricular activities, if assigned.
- Completing any administrative task assigned by Head of Department.
- Keeping accurate records of course files every semester.
4. Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates with PhD qualification (those who are close to completing their PhD may be considered); their bachelor’s degree and PhD should be in Communication Studies/Mass Communication.
- Those aged 35 or below will be given priority.
- Area of specialization should be in journalism, broadcasting, or corporate communication. Having industry experience in related fields is an added advantage.
- At least one year teaching experience in higher education institution.
- Have good track record in research and publication.
- Pleasant personality, co-operative and willing to work in a team.
- Only short-listed candidates will be called for an interview.
5. Minimum Competencies
- Ability to inspire students with your passion.
- Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work well in a team, and prioritize department needs.
- Able to multi-task and follow deadlines in any task given.
6. Other Requirements
- Industry experience in Journalism or Broadcasting is an added advantage.
7. Language Qualifications
All candidates must have obtained:
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidates without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
