Arts Bonita (Center for the Arts Bonita Springs) seeks a dynamic and experienced Youth Visual Art Instructor to teach, develop, and expand our growing Youth Education Visual Arts program.
We are looking for an instructor who not only possesses strong visual art skills but also has excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and is a positive collaborator. They are passionate about sharing their love of art with students by creating an encouraging and enriching learning environment for all ages!
Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Planning and delivering engaging projects for the visual art classes in specific mediums.
- Curriculum Development: Creating lesson plans that align with the visual art curriculum and cater to certain skill levels. Informing the Senior Education Director and/or Youth Education Manager about supplies and materials needed for classes.
- Demonstration & Explanation: Clearly demonstrating techniques, providing verbal cues and corrections, and breaking down concepts and applications.
- Class Management: Maintaining a positive and disciplined classroom environment, managing student behavior, and ensuring every student feels included and supported.
- Attendance: Taking attendance and keeping accurate records on the roll sheet.
- Progress Assessment: Evaluating students' progress throughout the session, providing feedback, and communicating with the Senior Education Director and/or Youth Education Manager about students' development so it can be communicated to the parents/guardians, if needed.
- Communication: Having verbal and email communication with the Senior Education Director and/or Youth Education Manager about the visual art rooms, students, parents, etc. If there are additional questions, direct parents to the Youth Education Manager and/or Front Desk for questions about class(es) or tuition.
- Safety: Prioritizing student safety by creating a safe visual art space to prevent injuries. In case of an emergency or injury, inform the parent and Senior Education Director and/or Youth Education Manager so an incident report can be filed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts or related field
- Professional experience as a visual artist and/or teacher
- Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- A passion for arts education and a commitment to fostering creativity in students of all ages.
