TODAY Digital, the multi-platform arm of America’s favorite morning show, is looking for a social media associate with a keen news sense and judgment. The ideal candidate is dynamic and energetic, a social native with an understanding of existing and emerging social platforms. S/he has managed social daily news coverage as well as big special projects, series, and social-first video. S/he will work closely with digital and broadcast producers to create accompanying social content for show segments. Calm and creative thinkers only apply. Candidates must display superior organizational skills. This is a unique opportunity to be the digital component of a complex news organization. Applicants should display a mentoring spirit. The candidate will work with editors on different teams – all working on different tasks and moving at different speeds. If you run towards problems, and disarm them with little to no issues, then this is the job for you. This is a staff with end date position, with a projected end date of March 30, 2019.


Responsibilities
Contribute to a social media strategy that activates viewers, grows new audiences and encourages repeated site visits Have an appreciation for TODAY’s broad range of topics and personalities Discover and break news through social media platforms and tools Oversight of daily posting and engagement across social channels Create highly sharable multi-media social experiences to grow audience engagement Contribute creative ideas to special series and verticals Collaborate across both digital and broadcast teams to integrate social and editorial content Participate in special projects, pitch fresh ideas, and assist senior editors as needed Review and analyze 3rd-party social media daily traffic and growth to contribute to regular reporting and development of action items on user engagement and community

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3+ years working in a news operation or agency focusing in news and storytelling, 3+ years in social media
• Proven track record transforming creative ideas into successful social media implementations across multiple brands
• Ability to connect brands with trending themes and influencers
• A sense of what’s popular and buzz worthy while not being afraid to take risks to identify/introduce new social outlets
• Passion for all things digital
• Strong writing skills – the ability to capture the voice of a brand and execute across multiple platforms
• Relevant experience working in online media and/or publishing, with the ability to react quickly to industry trends and adapt strategy accordingly
• Must be willing to work in NYC and travel as needed
• A deep understanding of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and Snapchat
• Proven news judgment, high ethical standards and wonderful interpersonal skills
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours depending when demanded by news coverage and other editorial responsibilities

Desired Qualifications
• Experience with graphic design, Photoshop
• Experience in video production and editing
